Meteostat does not own any meteorological data. Weather and climate data is usually collected and distributed by public organizations, such as the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) in the United States.
The following licensing information is only applicable to data redistributed by Meteostat. If you obtain data directly from a weather service through Meteostat Python, review the provider's licensing information carefully.
Standard License
Meteostat aggregates weather and climate data from different public sources and distributes it as a single comprehensive dataset. This data is published under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license.
You are free to:
- Share — copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format for any purpose, even commercially.
- Adapt — remix, transform, and build upon the material for any purpose, even commercially.

- Attribution — You must give appropriate credit, provide a link to the license, and indicate if changes were made. You may do so in any reasonable manner, but not in any way that suggests the licensor endorses you or your use.
